V-tech Nominated for U.S. Chamber Small Business of the Year Award

“Of course!,” was Polly Vann’s response to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce when they contacted her in January 2009 about her company’s possibly being nominated for the U.S. Chamber Small Business of the Year Award. “Whatever we can do to help Lubbock and the Chamber of Commerce, we want to do it”, Vann stated. This prestigious award will be presented at the 5th annual America’s Small Business Summit sponsored by Sam’s Club and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce May 11-13, 2009, in Washington, D.C. V-tech is one of four businesses in Lubbock nominated by the local Chamber of Commerce.

Eddie McBride, President of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, expressed why he felt V-tech Environmental Services was worthy of this nomination. “V-tech Environmental Services is an industry leader in environmental remedies and services for their customers. They are a model small business for our membership because of their expert staff and the leadership qualities of the CEO. This business model, coupled with their successes--especially their work with recent natural disasters--exemplifies their community leadership.” Award winners are subject to a lengthy application process, and are rewarded based on financial performance, business history, staff training, community involvement, customer service, and business planning. Vann partnered with Ms. Robbye Appling, a freelance writer, to assist with preparing the application. The application involved the company history, growth potential and a business plan. Overall, V-tech invested approximately 80 hours of dedicated attention to prepare the application. The team started with a plan of action and pulled together a noteworthy compilation. We are honored to be a part of Lubbock’s great heritage, and were truly blessed by the entire process.
